Item Description
8.5x11” cloth-bound hardcover with 220 pages. Published by The Jack Kriendler Memorial Fund Inc. in conjunction with the New York Heart Association, ©1950. Likely published as a fund raiser and published in conjunction with the 25th anniversary of “21,” an exclusive, jacket & tie required restaurant on W. 52nd St. in New York City. Contributing artists include Walt Disney, Ham Fisher, Flagg, Hal Foster, Rube Goldberg, Frank Lasswell, McManus, Soglow and many others. Restaurant was noted for its high priced fine cusine and celebrity clientele. Disney contribution shows Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Cinderella getting their bill at the restaurant. Many color plates feature beautiful women, some tastefully suggestive. Along with artists, contributing authors include Sullivan, Louis Bromfield, John Steinbeck and an interview with Frank Buck. Ed Sullivan’s “Toast Of The Town” gives a 3-page editorial of the “21” restaurant and its clientele. Cover has some light wear along spine and at corners with some missing cloth binding. Fine with Exc. contents. Rare as this book had a very limited issue. Only the 3rd we’ve seen in our 43 years. Additional photos online.
