Item Description
14x21” thin paper poster for proposed Sep. 18, 1969 concert that was to have taken place at The Boston Common. Following Woodstock, Jimi Hendrix was looking at a lengthy tour and manager Mike Jeffrey wanted to capitalize on the momentum Jimi had built up following his appearance there. As to be expected, a tour was organized, contracts were signed and everything was ready to go though the tour never happened for mysterious reasons which are to this day not known. Posters were printed for this show as seen here with this great psychedelic image of a upside-down guitar with psychedelic Afro, Hendrix’s mouth and mustache topped with 3 sets of multi-colored eyes, a disembodied finger playing chords of guitar’s neck which has Hendrix’s signature scarf tied around neck. Text on poster includes “Jimi Hendrix Experience In Concert For The Benefit Of Summerthing.” Poster has lightest trace of aging and pinholes at corners. If framed, would make for Exc. display. Very rare, we know of one other example selling in Jan., 2007 for $1,876.
