15” tall doll by Effanbee. c. 1930s-1940s. Nicely detailed composition head with movable jaw. Composition shoes and hands. Outfitted in well-made fabric cap, shirt, double-breasted jacket and pants. Jacket has 2 pockets. Metal monocle with original string. Tiny .25” hairline crack at corner of mouth but o/w doll is Exc. Attached to jacket collar is 1” dia. bw celluloid button featuring a photo image of Charlie in top hat and “Edgar Bergen’s Charlie McCarthy –An Effanbee Play Product” text. Original Whitehead & Hoag backpaper. Button is N. Mint.
