Custom-made, close-fitting, 12.5x37.75x14.5” clear plastic Lucite case contains original box for 14” wide by 37.5” long child’s plastic riding toy. By Marx. ©1966 National Periodical Publications Inc. Graphic box with different illustration on each panel shows Batman and Robin with Batmobile riding toy, child with poncho Batcape on toy and images and special features including “Modern Wheel Design, Real Tail Fins, Steering Wheel, Exciting ‘Play’ Bat Phone.” Large batsymbol graphics on each panel as well. Box shows moderate wear with 2 corners showing heavy wear. Scattered dust soiling but as encased in display, box still displays Fine. Batmobile is steerable with batsymbol-shaped steering wheel which has horn that squeaks. Car works with spring tension motor that child operated by pushing Batmobile back, then releasing push-down brake handle and lifting feet to be propelled forward. Still works. Trunk contains complete set of 4 miniature tools: plastic wrenches (2), screwdriver and hammer. These tools are usually missing. Three gold-colored rubber exhaust pipes on trunk are complete. Trunk also has 2.25x4” gold foil sticker with “Batman” c. mid-1960s comic book title logo. Front fender, below recessed area for child’s feet is large 3.5x5.5” “Batmobile” decal sticker with large batsymbol. Sticker also has NPP copyright information. Has applied decal stickers for headlights, air intake, tail light and batsymbol grille. Tail lights show lt. wear with peeling at top and bottom. Cockpit windshield has separate removable plastic microphone “Bat Phone.” Intricately and realistically-detailed dash in chrome luster red plastic shows speedometer which can be adjusted, several knobs that can be turned and has directional gear levers. Batmobile has some wear to hard plastic wheel treads from use and other than luster loss on dash, Batmobile still displays Exc. Complete with 31” long vinyl Bat poncho complete with Batman’s signature “ears.” .75x1.25” splits to vinyl by ears as produced. Folded as-issued, showing multiple creases. Exc./N. Mint. Batmobile was produced in different color variations, main body of Batmobile in black with different colored accent plastic pieces. This is desirable red fin and yellow cockpit windshield variety. Extremely unusual complete, usually missing cowl/cape poncho and tools. Great large toy and certainly the nicest Batmobile collectible produced during the 1966 Batmania craze.
