This figure was made by the company made famous for their Marvel Family statuettes. ( See Mary Marvel statuette #2048.) This figure is 5.25” tall made from an unknown blend of resin-like materials. Flocking on head and trunks. Complete with separate 2.25” long club that fits into the crook of his arm for display. Front of base has incised name “Alley Oop” while back of base has “NEA Service Inc. Comic Strip Distribution Syndicate” and 1946 copyright. There are several very minor surface hairlines which are only noticeable when viewed closely and in no way affect the piece’s structural integrity. One of these surface hairlines runs vertically up the center of his chest and blends somewhat with his chest musculature. .25” hairline on back of leg, right leg has .5” hairline that starts below knee and wraps around to the back. Again, these are exceedingly minor and piece retains a bright, clean appearance. Still displays Exc. This is one of the very rarest comic character figures. Only 4 are known and only one other is complete with club. Unlike the Marvel Family of Kerr statuettes, no box was made for this figure but comes with a factory-altered box that was originally issued for Marvel Bunny but has been inked out and “Alley Oop” name inked in. Other end flap with Kerr Co. details has been razored off as is the case with many of these Kerr boxes. Box shows lt. aging/handling wear. Exc.
