Item Description
4x7x2.25” deep nicely illustrated box contains 5.75” tall solid painted plastic figure. From a series of 4 produced in 1946 by R.W. Kerr Co., set included Captain Marvel, Captain Marvel Jr. and Hoppy The Marvel Bunny. C.C. Beck-designed box features illustration of Captain Marvel holding the Mary Marvel statue in his hand while back shows illustrations of other statuettes. Other side panels include additional text plus image of lightning bolts coming from dark clouds. One end flap has area with “Mary Marvel” ink stamp. Most examples of this box that have come into the hobby were from a former employee of Kerr and he razored-off the company information on end flap but this example is 100% complete. Box has the slightest trace of wear and aging. Exc./N. Mint. Kerr decal underneath statue has a sliver flake missing but decal remains about 85% complete and statuette retains full “Mary Marvel” name at front of base. Quite scarce due to limited distribution and its fragile nature. .25” hairline stress line on Mary’s left cheek, not affecting structural integrity of statuette. Exc.
