Item Description
Complete set of 12 comics published exclusively for Ralston Straight Shooters between Sep., 1940 – Nov., 1942. Comics were obtained by mailing in 2 Ralston box tops. Issued were mailed with labels applied to back covers and issues above Fine condition are rarely found as such. Issues have varying degrees of moderate wear from mailing. All but issues #6 and 9 have tape along spines. Condition breakdown as follows: Good: 7-8, 10; Good/VG: 1-6, 9, 11-12. Issue 10 features Japanese submarine cover is done in stereotypical style as was common during World War II. Issue number 1-6 and 12 have original mailing labels, rest have been removed. Rarely offered as a complete set, this is the only time we’ve been able to do so in our 43 years. Overstreet value for group in stated condition = $1,054. Comes with pair of 10.75x15.5” newspaper advertisements for “Tom Mix Commandos Comics” the title that “Tom Mix Comics” eventually became starting with issue #11. VG and just come along.
