Item Description
Complete Mar. 6, 1964 issue picturing a large portrait of Cassius Clay glistening with sweat post-match. Issue has 6-page feature on Ali’s defeat of Sonny Liston for the heavyweight championship. Article is accompanied by several bw and color photos of the fight. Another feature includes bw photo portraits of the previous heavyweight champions of boxing including John L. Sullivan, Jack Johnson, Jack Dempsey, Gene Tunney, Max Schmeling, Primo Carnera, Max Baer, Joe Louis, Rocky Marciano, Floyd Patterson and Liston. Particularly interesting photo shows Muhammad Ali eating ice cream as Malcolm X whispers in his ear. Issue has moderate handling wear, mostly along spine with pinch creases and ink touch-ups. Mailing label has been removed from lower left corner with ink touch-ups to surface paper lifts. Fine overall. Ali has boldly signed in black felt tip pen across his chin and neck “Muhammad Ali AKA Cassius Clay – The Greatest Of All Time – After Me There Will Never Be ANOTHER.” Ali has also added a sketch of a boxing ring. Signature area remains Exc. Comes with Hake’s COA.
