10.5x13.5x4" deep box contains complete and unused painting kit used to create 3-D effect picture display of King Kong as he appeared on the movie poster for the 1976 film "King Kong." Made by Colorforms ©1976 Dino De Laurentiis. Colorforms also made kits for Batman, Superman, Tarzan, Spider-Man and Star Trek. Kit contains 4 pre-printed levels of clear plastic, full color bkg. scene, telescopic frame, acrylic paints, brush and painting guide/instructions. Box remains sealed but has one corner dented in somewhat, box slightly warped due to tightness of shrink wrap. Fine w/unused and Mint contents. Comes w/several pieces of original art for this kit including 18x22" color proof of box bkg. w/blank area to showcase images from any of the Colorforms Tru-Dimensions sets. Proof has moderate wear and VG. Also comes w/18x22" binder display which has full color art of finished kit w/acetate sheet overlay. Exc. Four smaller 11x15" binders show art for different levels of kit, one is Level 3 showing main image of Kong's body w/bw image of him on acetate sheet and paper overlay w/coloring guide. Level 2 showcases Kong's leg and upper arm in same fashion. Level 1 showcases Kong's hand which holds Fay Wray and additional color guide note attached to pencil guide. Level 4 has art image of Kong's other arm and leg, hand holding crushed jet as other jet flies overhead. He stands on top of World Trade Center. These binders are Exc. Also included is series of 8 Colorforms Kodak photo prints on acetate sheets showing finalized coloring for each level and one large 7-7/8x10" print of finalized kit. Three other photo prints show progression of creation of kit. Exc. Last piece is 8.25x11" ad slick for Superman Tru-Dimension kit. Handling wear but VF. An extensive lot from the Colorforms Archives.
