Item Description

9.5x12" sheet of animation paper with 2 sets of peg holes along bottom margin and 2 peg holes along top margin as produced. Original lead pencil art showing title character from 1934 Silly Symphony that introduced Donald Duck. Included are 5 different full-body images of The Wise Little Hen as well as 9 different and separate facial portraits showing different emotions. All full-body images show the Hen carrying basket, 2 with ear of corn and kernels. One drawing shows her poking hole in ground to plant corn. This Silly Symphony was directed by Wilfred Jackson and animated by Art Babbitt, Dick Huemer and Dick Lundy. Short was released Jun. 9, 1934. This art was most likely drawn c. Dec., 1933 though we are unsure who the artist was. Bottom left-hand margin has "The Wise Little Hen" text and cartoon serial number "US20" (United Artist Silly Symphony No. 20). Additional "Highlight In Eye" production notation by facial portrait at top. Sheet has even aging and shows some minor handling wear. Sheet is VF but art remains Exc. The original art for the Donald Duck model sheet for this cartoon recently sold for $75,000. Unique and historically important. (N - $10000 to $20000)
