Item Description
1935 by Soreng-Mangold. Lamp has painted tin body with 5" dia. by 4" tall, 6.5" tall to top of socket. Version with green body (also came in beige). Around outside surface are 3 identical Mickey decals, 2 of which are nearly 100% complete and the other has .25x.5" spot worn down to base metal at Mickey's head with additional spot of paint wear just to the left of this. Base has additional scattered paint wear but remains glossy. Fine. Lamp has been re-wired. The glossy thin cardboard shade is 5.25" tall. From a series of 6 different, each was numbered. This is #4 (in our last Auction-#194 we offered shades #2 and #5). This shade features 3 images of Mickey which are: standing in the rain, under lampost wearing top hat and tails, in an armchair reading "Peculiar Penguins." Long ago thread was neatly added to the extreme top rim edge to secure the inner wire frame in place. Top edge also has a few small tape stains. Outside surface shows typical aging with some scattered 1" or so light crease lines. However, remains glossy and structurally sound. Still displays Fine. These shades are about 50 times rarer than the lamps. From the Deak Stagemyer Collection.
