Auction 193 - Part II
Item numbers 800 though 2307 in auction 193.
This classic toy's popularity saved the Lionel Corp. from bankruptcy during the dark days of the Depression. The toy measures 2x7.5x5.5" tall and is complete, all original and working. Include are 8 curved and 2 straight sections of track to form the layout for the toy's operation. The 4.5" tall composition figures of Mickey and Minnie are attached to a painted metal hand car, this being the green version (also known in red and maroon). Minnie wears a wood hat and both have their original wire tails and original hard rubber legs, unbroken. The toy travels around the track with the figures moving as if they are propelling the vehicle. There is an occasional bell sound. Both figures are in outstanding N. Mint condition with exceptionally clean paint. The silver luster metal hand car bars have a couple very trivial tarnish traces. The painted hand car body has a few trivial traces of wear but overall still Exc. The box is 8x11x2.25" deep complete with the original cardboard insert and the key to wind the toy. Very minor oxidation stain in the box bottom caused by track storage and some tiny oxidation on the staples holding the box corners but the box has no splits, no tears and only the most general light age. VF and rarely seen this clean. (K - $1000 to $2000)
