Item Description
Pair of 7.5x9.5x1.5” deep countertop display boxes, each original contained 12 styrofoam “airplanes”, issued in envelope-style wrappers. Over a 10 year period (1965-1975) Topps issued Flying Things on at least 5 different occasions. This series consisted of 24 different with an illustrated checklist on the back of each wrapper. These two boxes contain a total of 23 (22 different and 1 duplicate). Missing #3 Witch and #13 Guitar. Dupe is #19 Drive-In Movie. Each box has small penciled notation at top right corner. Boxes and wrappers feature same design of the “Flying Heroes Sandwich.” Each consists of 3 pieces: body, wing & tail. All are very cleverly designed and included in this series are a vampire, hippie, Empire State Building with King Kong, firecracker, soda bottle, football field, others. Boxes have light wear but die-cut lids remain unpunched. First box is Exc., second box has light 2” crease and minor .25” puncture near center of lid, barely noticeable. VF. Wrappers have light wear to back flaps as originally opened and some have pencil notation to checklist but overall remain Exc/NM for display with Mint contents. From the Tomart Archives.
