Auction 191 - Part II
Item numbers 955 though 2537 in auction 191.
5.5x8x3.5” deep box contains complete amount of 120 card packs each 2.75x3.75” plus 56 pairs of 1.25x3.5” cardboard glasses. Issued by Topps in 1953. Each pack contains a single card and stick of gum, wrappers are the 1˘ variety. Topps used the same identical wrappers & display boxes for two different Tarzan series. These are all “Tarzan Savage Fury” cards. Box has noticeable aging as well as moderate amount of moisture staining (noticeable on lid at top center). VG. Because of the moisture damage to the box, we opened a few packs to check the condition of the cards and have come to the conclusion that all cards have obvious wear with staining and spotting caused by deterioration of the gum. Wrappers have scattered trace of aging but compared to the cards, remain relatively clean. While the wrappers can be cleaned up a bit, the cards do not appear they could be improved. All of the glasses have the cardboard tab intact that was meant to be discarded so glasses could fit around nose. Glasses are marked “Tarzan 3D Picture Card.” All have slight warp and trace of aging. Despite the defects caused by the moisture, still quite displayable as is, especially as packs are unopened. A set consists of 60 cards and books for over $500.00. (J - $700 to $1000)
