Item Description
16" long tin litho by Yonezawa Toys, Japan 1950s. Original plain box bottom and lid with colorful applied label has side splits, some staining, edge flaking of the plain cardboard. Label has just a few minor color rubs. Fine/VF. Car itself has beautiful lithography with details of headlights, baffles, etc. and marked "Atom 27" on driver's collar and shoulder patch, tail fin. Car also has plated accessories including Atom in script on both sides, hood ornament, bumpers and hubcaps. Hubcaps marked "Sport." Has original tires. These show aging with cracking and chipping although still stay on wheels well. Car was designed to produce sparks which show in the two large chrome-framed red plastic windows in the back. This function still works. Friction also works well. Car has a few factory paint touch-ups that are barely noticeable, light aging and spotting on some of the darker green areas and scattered pinpoint paint nicks overall. Professional restoration of paint on helmet and replacement of clear window. Still a nice example of this Japanese true toy classic. Displays VF.
