Item Description
Based on the best-selling 1963 book by Maurice Sendak, lot consists of two dolls, each plush and approximately 19” tall. 1970s. Dolls are for characters Max and Moishe. Designed by Mel Birnkrant and Bonnie Erickison, who also designed Muppets for Henson Associates. These dolls were experiments in perfecting the patterns before final production started. Max has tuft of hair and tail. Exc. Moishe doll is just cloth form with felt claws on feet and hands and bushy tail. Glue markings about neck and head have residue of fur that was attached. Light dust soiling to linen. Bit of wear to tip of one claw. Fine.
