Item Description
Each 1.5" tall with matching beautifully detailed and stylized eagle embossed shell hangers although the Grant is a stickpin while the Seymour has a horizontal bar pin on the reverse. In the beak of each eagle is a loop which suspends shield below centered by ferrotype image of each man with his last name printed across the chest. While both pieces have vast amount of original gilt finish, the brass coloring on the Grant is slightly darker and the color on the Seymour is slightly brighter. The Grant ferrotype is flawless while the Seymour has a small air bubble on the left bkg. that catches reflected light but there is neither loss of emulsion nor crazing so it displays essentially bright and Mint. A fabulous matched pair of ferrotypes from 1868.
