Item Description
Each piece is brown on white marked under base with text within oval reading "Columbian Star Oct. 28th 1840 J.N. Ridgway." Depicted are four different scenes of a log cabin with some scenes accented by human figures including man with plow drawn by two horses. This complete set for six was handed down within a family. There are six handleless teacups 2.25" tall, one with barely visible .25" hairline on rim, one with 1/8" rim chip and one with slight tanning of upper edge. There are six shallow bowls 5.5" dia. One has 1/8" rim chip, one with .25" long by 1/16" deep rim flake and one with very trivial tanning of top rim. There are six saucers (or plates) with slightly flared rims 6.75" in dia. Two are lightly tanned. The large creamer stands 4-3/8" tall with slight tanning on upper edges and spout. The large sugar bowl with lid is 7.5" dia. by 5.75" tall. There is a 3/16x1/8" sliver off underside edge of one handle. Below this is .75" dia. spotting of tanning over design of a tree. The large waste bowl is 3.25" tall by 6.5" dia. It has extremely slight tanning and a 1" vertical hairline from top edge downward, barely showing. The largest piece is the teapot with lid. 6" deep, 10" across handle and spout and 6.75" tall. The interior lip of lid has 3/16" sliver off edge but seems to be as made and covered with glaze. To right of cabin scene on one side is .5" toned spot barely noticeable. Overall, teapot is just a hair less than mint as made. 22-pieces in all. The few defects are very minor and overall condition is outstanding. Rare to find such a large number of pieces still existing as a set for six.
