Item Description
2.25" tall listed as DeWitt-Sullivan 1868-17 but that example is without the embossed brass eagle which has stickpin reverse and is joined with strip of purple, white and blue ribbon to the suspended frame. Frame depicts eagle at top with crossed flags below plus the slogan on the bottom edge "E Pluribus Unum" all surrounding the 1/8" elevated center which holds the oval ferrotype. Lower left bkg. has a 1/8" black line but o/w the emulsion surface is perfect. Finish on the brass is totally clean. Exc. and rarely seen in this stickpin format.
