Item Description
First is 2-1/8" button with W&H back paper and this dates from the 1930s. Button reads "Hinchliffe Stadium/Knot Hole League." A few miles from New York City the New York Black Yankees used the stadium and the stadium hosted the "Colored Championship Of The Nation." It became the home base in 1933 and then saw additional regular season league games in 1936 including those of the New York Cubans, also of the Negro League. The field's relationship with the Black Yankees lasted a total of 12 seasons and the field played host to some of the famous black players such as Josh Gibson, Oscar Charleston, and Satchel Paige. Martin Dihigo played at the field in 1936. Larry Doby began his professional career at Hinchliffe. Other three items consist of 1.25" and 1" buttons each reading "K.C. Blues" along with one serving as a rebus knothole "Gang" while the larger simply says "Knothole Gang" each with a serial number. Last is a 3.75" tall celluloid calendar card with advertising for the railroad Missouri Pacific Lines. One side is 1929 calendar while opposite side is the schedule for the "Blues at (Home)." Couple tiny creases on very bottom margin. Otherwise all items display essentially Mint.
