Item Description
Lot of four, including two daily strips on 4.75x14" thin artboards and two Sunday pages on 11x17" thin artboards, each w/original pen and ink art by Fred Fredericks (see following item #1782) w/art on one Sunday by Olesen (w/inks by Fredericks). Fredericks has drawn the "Mandrake The Magician" comic strip for over 40 years and provided art for "The Phantom" Sunday comic strip for five years. He also drew various comic books including "Boris Karloff" and "Twilight Zone" and has inked various titles for DC and Marvel Comics. Daily strips do not include story titles but dates are June 8, 1998 and features three panels, featuring Mandrake in three panels w/The Phantom's canine companion Devil in two. Second daily strip is dated May 8, 2001 and has three panels showing Mandrake (who is unseen) and Narda arriving via helicopter in Bangalla, noticing a mountain carved to resemble The Phantom, who appears in last panel w/Devil. Both have King Features Syndicate copyright strips and are Exc. First Sunday page "The Phantom," ninth installment in "Mori" storyline and is dated Oct. 26, 1997. Eight panels (not including title panel), w/Phantom in five (one being photostat paste-over), including great scene of big cats eating shark. Second Sunday page "Mandrake The Magician," is dated Oct. 20, 2002 and has eight panels, including two w/Mandrake and four w/Phantom. Two panels feature Mandrake's ally Lothar, last panel showing a grenade heading towards him. Both are Exc. All have been signed in black felt tip pen by Fredericks. Great lot featuring team-ups of two KFS legends.
