Item Description
Earliest piece is his second decoder from 1942. 2-1/8" tall in highly embossed brass and holding a real photo of him in aviator's helmet and goggles. Ribbon of text around the top edge reads "Capt. Midnight's Secret Squadron." Most bright luster gone but totally clean and with a very nice original photo which kids were instructed to remove and to replace with one of their own so these are uncommon when complete as issued. Second is a 1947 plastic decoder which doubles as a whistle. Some tiny bite marks on the plastic end from use but overall still in VF condition. Next from 1948 is the "Mirro-Magic" brass and plastic decoder. Front has his name and logo while reverse is a red plastic cover held to the front brass by a pair of interior tabs. Back panel of the plastic has a bright silver rectangle for message signaling. These red plastic pieces always warped and this is in about average condition from that view point but the brass tabs still hold it very firmly in place. Front has bright NM luster. Last is the 1949 "Key-O-Matic Code-O-Graph" brass decoder with interior red plastic moveable wheels. This piece came with a brass key to set various code combinations. That piece is not here but there is a metal key which does fit the slots in the decoder so the coding combinations can be changed if desired. Most bright luster off the brass but no damage. See following 1949 decoder with key in Mint condition.
