Item Description
Issued in 1943 in Pep cereal, these are 11 of the 12 buttons issued, each a 1-1/8" litho. Eight different airplanes are shown: four in green and four in brown against photographic-style blue sky with four in brown repeated using artist-enhanced airplane details and hand-drawn cloud outlines. The only one missing is the artist-style for Martin B-26 Marauder. Paint on these was very susceptible to wear. In this group the first in row one has lost some color and has irregular gloss. Following three in that row are VF with just a tiny age dot on the last. Those in row two are extremely Fine with the second just a little darker than the other two. In row three the second is missing a small bit of blue color from the lower left wing tip and the fourth has some gloss irregularities with some scattered white marks near the outer edge. A very difficult set to complete.
