Item Description
13-5/8x16.5" mat contains acetate sheet that has been double-matted to 9.75x12". Acetate sheet is set against replica lobby card for the 1948 Columbia "Superman" serial starring Kirk Alyn, the first actor to portray the Man of Steel. Due to the shortcomings of movie special effects at the time, animation similar to that in Max Fleischer's Superman cartoon shorts was used to depict Superman in flight in the live-action serial. This example has 1-3/16" long black and gray tone full figure image of Superman in flight, though his face is mostly blocked by extended arm. This image has very tiny craze lines w/some minor paint bubbling on legs, though this does not detract greatly from overall display, which remains Exc. Very rare, w/very few examples known to remain in existence.
