Item Description
All are from Sunday “Dallas Morning News”. Originally issued folded, inserts have been unfolded and mounted on cardboard for display. Each is 20.5x29” overall w/eight pages in comic book format. 1941 dates are: Aug.17, Sept.21, Dec.7 (same date as Pearl Harbor attack). 1942 dates are: Feb.1, Oct.11, Oct.25. Storylines involve detective Denny Colt in mask as the Spirit, and other characters including stereotypical African-American sidekick Ebony, Commissioner Dolan, and his beautiful daughter Ellen. Pages have a few minor ripples, otherwise image areas clean and VF/ Exc. Classic early examples by Eisner and his studio including Lou Fine. From the Don Maris Collection.
