Item Description
Complete set of eight 15x22" sheets of thin artboard, each w/Howard Larsen's original pen and ink art for Nov. 1952 issue of "John Wayne Adventure Comics" #17. Art is for "Command Performance" story and features The Duke and Bonanza checking out ghost town w/fresh signs advertising a show at the local opera house. They proceed there, where the show begins, featuring the same man who was painting the signs and told them about the show. He throws juggling pins at Wayne and Bonanza, capturing them, leading them to mineshaft where they make a break for it. The mineshaft starts to collapse, revealing gold. They escape and capture the man. Each sheet has inked title, issue number and page number at top along w/stamped information at bottom w/"Toby Press, Inc." stamp. Upper left of each page has "H.L. Larsen" artist's personal stamp. Scattered editorial notations appear in margins. Scattered aging/wear w/.75x4.5" area of staining at top right of first page. Fine overall w/rest of pages in Fine/VF condition w/clean art.
