Item Description
This truly one of a kind collection is the ultimate Cuban compilation of baseball stats, records, box scores, standings, major events, etc. spanning the years 1914-1941 (with exceptions as noted). The sheer scope of these volumes could fill several pages of description in our catalog but we will keep things concise and offer some of the most important highlights here (online we have over 100 photos of these albums showing some of the best content, but even that only scratches the surface of what these volumes have to offer). Each is about 11x15 w/approximately 200, to as many as 500, pages per volume. On those pages, no blank space remains as each was totally covered by clippings. Approximate volume dates are as follows: #1 1914-1915, #2 1915-1919, #3 1922-1923, #4 1924-1925, #5 1925, #6 1925-1926, #7 1926, #8 1930-1932, #9 1932-1935, #10 1940-1941. Years missing are: 1920-1921, 1927-1929 and 1936-1939. Coverage includes Cuban League, MLB, Negro Leagues, Female, Native American and House Of David teams. Stars of note (many featured multiple times) include: Emilio Palmero, Walter Johnson, Christy Mathewson, Luis Padron, Armando Marsans, Honus Wagner, Shoeless Joe Jackson, Alejandro Oms, Oscar Charleston, Rogers Hornsby, Babe Ruth, Cristobal Torriente, Ty Cobb, Martin Dihigo, Jose Mendez, Pop Lloyd, Lou Gehrig, Mel Ott, Nap Lajoie, Joe Dimaggio, Lefty Grove, and many, many more. Obviously team coverage is as extensive as the individual player coverage and includes champions of all leagues including the World Series. Photos of all mentioned above are as prevalent as corresponding text information (which is in Spanish). The condition of the binding, covers (or in some cases lack thereof) and pages is well aged and worn as to be expected but the clippings remain largely unaffected by this wear and as well preserved as possible considering the conditions. All remains easily accessible if handled with care. This is truly one of those items that must be seen in person to fully comprehend the historic importance and sheer magnitude of what has been compiled. From the Cesar S. Lopez collection, creator of www.cubanball.com.
