Item Description
Pair of canes that serve double purpose as chairs w/folding seats attached. Both issued and sold at the 1939 New York World's Fair. First is 35" tall w/9" dia. seat tripod model. Stafford Johnson Seating Corp. Back of seat is marked "Kan-O Seat." Center of seat has 2.75x3.25" color decal. Unusual decal has banner in foreground reading "New York World's Fair 1939" and shows large George Washington statue looking toward Trylon and Perisphere. Scattered trace of lt. wear to decal. VF. Seat legs have scattered lt. scuffs. Fine overall. Scarce w/this decal. Second measures 31.5" tall w/7.5x12" shield-shaped plywood seat w/repeated text/image on back showing Trylon and Perisphere. Interesting, simple design. User must balance himself on the seat due to the unusual design. Metal attachment underneath seat strengthens seat support. Metal button snap at bottom attaches lower seat to cane when not in use. Rubber-tipped end. Scattered aging. Much rarer than the three-legged, round-seat canes. Fine. Rare.
