Item Description
c. 1980s, based on his Aug. 1952 comic book cover. 17.5x23" high quality wood frame has triple archival mat w/10.5x15.5" opening. Incredibly detailed India ink and watercolor image has underwater demon "Swamp Spirit" w/broken shackles  coming towards viewer. Scene is filled w/aquatic life along w/skeletal form w/arm raised on sea floor. Art is signed "L.B. Cole" in ink at lower right. NM. L.B. Cole (1918-1995) was a Golden Age comic book artist, noted for his work on "Mask, Captain Flight, Contact" covers. He ran his own comic book company, "Star Publications", 1949-1955. He did the cover for "Overstreet's Comic Book Price Guide" #11 and was a personal friend of Overstreet who represented him as his agent. Ready for display. One of the nicest Cole originals we've ever seen. From the Robert M. Overstreet Collection. Comes w/COA.
