Item Description
Each of these is 1-1/8" litho distributed in boxes of cereal. Those in green and blue were issued in 1943. Those in brown were issued in 1945 and four of them feature artwork style images with the same identical planes then repeated more in a photographic style. Three of the four green/blue planes are here with the missing one Republic P-47 Thunderbolt. Of those four the first in row one Boeing B-29 Superfortress is in nice condition with just a few tiny wear dots. The last in this row is duplicate of that but in Poor condition with paint off the front and also all around the rim edge. The Consolidated Vultee B-24 Liberator and the Lockheed Lightning (P-38) both have missing surface paint which once adhered to cellophane and came off in the removal process. The same paint issue applies to five of the seven different planes in brown. The missing brown plane is the artwork version of the Martin B-25 Marauder. The photographic version is here and extremely Fine. Next is the North American B-25 Mitchell in both versions but both with paint loss. Next is Consolidated PB-2Y-3 Coronado with the photo style missing paint but the artwork style extremely Fine. Last in this series is the Grumman F6F3 Hellcat. Each of these is missing some paint. In the bottom row are the two duplicates first in artwork style is the Consolidated PB-2Y-3 Coronado which has just light paint wear and the North American B-25 Mitchell which has nice paint but has been somewhat flattened. While this is 10 of the set of 12 because of the paint damage we have kept the opening bid exceedingly low. However, there are three extremely Fine examples here and they more than justify the opening bid.
