Item Description
8.5x11.75" original photo from Milton Greene's 1956 photo session w/Monroe that has come to be known as "The Black Sitting" given the black bkg. and the black fishnet stockings, lingerie and hat Marilyn posed in. Photo depicts Monro lying on her side, head bowed w/hat held in front of her chest. While there are several photos from this session, to the best of our knowledge, we believe the one offered here has not been published. While there is a very similar photo that was published, Marilyn's hands are in a slightly different position on the hat held in front of her. Back of photo has large "Photographed By Milton H. Greene - Reproduction Forbidden" stamp w/penciled numbers. Greene (1922-1985) was a fashion and celebrity photographer who is best known for his photographs of celebrities, in particular the photoshoots he did w/Marilyn Monroe. Photo has obvious handling wear at margins, w/a .5" and 1" tear along upper left corner. Lower half of Marilyn has some scattered faint glue residue that is only noticeable upon close inspection. VG. Obtained directly from Marilyn at same time as the autographed photo offered as item #1477.
