Item Description
Group begins with seven buttons each 1.75" attached to a ribbon 6" tall or a bit larger. First is 1914 "First Premium/The Great Carlisle Fair." Next are pair of "Second" place ribbons from "The Great Lehighton Fair, 1919." One shows a cow while the other is from "Department Of Swine." Next are a pair of 1916 & 1917 awards from the "Hanover, Pa. Fair Horse Show." Next are similar from the 1911
"Great Lancaster Co. Fair." Each of these four items includes a "First Prize" and "Second Prize." All extremely clean and NM. Next are four smaller 1.25" buttons. The first three of these are from Iowa while the last with some age spotting is from Glidden, Wisc. These are for "First Premium" and "Second Premium." The next group are five buttons 1.75" with ribbons about 6". First is from Peterborough Poultry Association, 1916 First Prize. Next are three from Lehighton dated for 1916 & 1917. These have paper stickers on them for some reason but they are as issued. Next is a 1920 "First Premium" from Franklin County Fair, Malone NY. Next are a pair of 1.25" "First Premium" buttons from Tuscarawas County Fair Dover Ohio dated for 1924 & 1925. Next are a trio of 1.25" American flag buttons for first, second and third premiums issued at the Cumberland Fair, Md. Few tiny age spots on the one NY button. Next are five matching buttons for "First Prize" through "Fifth Prize." All of these are from "Eighth Annual Exhibition Of The Middlesex Co Poultry, Pigeon and Pet Stock Assoc'n Middletown, Conn" 1910. Slight wear on the first but the other five are essentially Mint. These have 1.75" buttons and 6.5" ribbons. Last are four large ribbon pieces. First is 11" from "Minnesota State Fair Second Premium 1890." Small sticker stain and bit of wear on the ribbon tips. Next is huge 3.5x15" ribbon reading "Third Premium Illinois State Fair Springfield 1898." Sticker mark on the top blank panel and a few small marks on the lower blank panel but overall quite clean. Next is 13" "Wisconsin State Fair 1899/Heifer-2 Years Old Under 3-Second." Small sticker mark. Last is gorgeous color button picturing buffalo and reading "International." Ribbon edges below have some wear but it is quite clean. This is a "Third" place piece from 1914 "Show of Poultry Pigeons Pet Stock And Canaries/Buffalo, N.Y." An incredible group of early agricultural awards.
