Item Description
First is 3-5/8” tall with metal parts in bronze finish plus inset brass medallion. Bar reads “Citizens Of Canton.” Text on the medallion surrounding McKinley’s portrait is “Welcome The 8th O.V.I. 1896.” Reverse of the medallion shows soldier on guard between a pair of field tents. This piece was made by Schwabb of Milwaukee. Tiny luster loss from reverse of the brass but overall Exc. Second is 2-9/16” brass with “Souvenir” bar pin suspending star accented by rifles and sabers plus text “Santiago 8th Reg. O.V.I.” This was issued for event held “Nov. 10-20, 1898/Wooster, O.” This piece was also made by Schwaab and has NM luster. Sen. Charles Dick Collection.
