Item Description
4-1/8” tall with the metal parts in bronze finish. Hanger bar reads “Inauguration March 4, 1893.” The original backing ribbon is here although split about half way across the brass bar on the back of the hanger and with the bottom partially missing and frayed. The second rwb ribbon also shows some loss of color but is largely intact. A large metal loop suspends 1-5/8” bronzed white metal medal with both their portraits surrounded by “Grover Cleveland. Adlai E. Stevenson.” Back of the piece has view of the U.S. Capitol surrounded by text “Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies March 4. 1893.” A small number of these were silvered and used by the Executive Committee. While this is not one of those it is quite rare and it is generally accepted that around 200 of these were made. While the fabric portions show wear the metal portions remain essentially Mint.
