Item Description
2.5” tall with brass shell eagle stickpin. A loop at the beak suspends a second brass shell with five star points and ribbon design at top reading “For President.” Ferrotypes include the names “Gen. U.S. Grant” and “Schuyler Colfax.” Tiny text below on the shell reads “For President/V. Prest.” Grant image has single pinpoint black dot on his forehead and near microscopic 1/32” gray dot on his cheek. Colfax has 1/8” hairline of emulsion off extreme lower right edge but very minor and portrait area remains perfect. The brass frame has four dots of luster missing each about 1/16” or less but with 97% luster intact. An exceptionally ornate and rare piece.
