c. 1940s. This set, based on the popularity of the 1945 “Pep” comic strip character button set, was proposed but never produced. All is original art in ink, watercolor, and lead pencil w/hand lettered text . 17x43.75”paper sheet has happy boy and girl are at top wearing beanies w/sample buttons. Text promotes “18 Glamorous Movie Stars In Colors!”. Center area has eight star designs, each w/example button. None are specifically identified, but apparent stars include: Roy Rogers, Judy Garland, Ethel Merman, Clark Gable, Jack Carson. Lower right corner has partial image of “Pep Whole Wheat” cereal box. Sheet has several vertical creases as stored, lt. margin dust soil. Overall sheet is Fine, art is Exc. Among the nicest and largest Gold premium prototype originals we have ever offered. Unique. Spectacular for display. From the archives of premium creators Sam & Gordon Gold accompanied by a letter to that effect from Gordon Gold.
