Item Description
Lot of 12 smaller size photos, Polaroids between 3.5x5" and 4x5.25" showing sculpts and production progress on Garfield telephone and two larger 5x7" photos showing Tyco designer Lee Volpe w/Jim Davis and Garfield costumed character at the 1986 and 1993 Big Deal Garfield convention in Phoenix, AZ. Also included is nine-page packet of photocopies showing Jim Davis' notes to Tyco designer Lee Volpe regarding his notes on the phone's design. Included in this packet is an actual page that has an original Garfield sketch by Davis showing Garfield w/his eyes closed and additional sketches concerning components of the phone. Page is dated 12/8/83 and was mistakenly included amongst the photocopied pages during the working concept stages, an error then that now allows us to offer you this one of a kind piece of Jim Davis original art. Last items are two 1980s Tyco retailer sales folders which include photos of two different Garfield phone models and other character phones by Tyco. Some scattered lt. handling wear overall, VF-Exc. From the personal collection of Lee Volpe, Tyco Toy’s Manager, Director, and VP of New Product Development (1982 –1994) who was involved from the beginning of the development of Dino-Riders, Garfield telephones and several other Tyco toys.
