7-3/8x10" slick paper magazine w/20 pages printed in bluetone. "Vol. 1 No. 1 New York, September 1, 1934" published by the "Colored Baseball & Sports Publishing Co." and printed by the "Harlem Life Printery." Front cover has photo of three New York Black Yankees players holding bats. Includes C. Thomas, C. Jenkins and C. Spierman, "Three Shining Lights In Colored Baseball." Centerfold has great photo of whole team subtitled "The Cream Of Semi-Pro Baseball." Inside front cover is dedicated to Rube Foster and C.I. Taylor. Articles include "Will Colored Players Answer The Major League?" by Nat Trammell, "The Colored Babe Ruth" w/photo of John Beckwith, "History Of New York Black Yankees" by James Semler w/his photo, "The Greatest Defensive Club In The East" article on the Philadelphia Stars, "Does Harlem Want Baseball?," biography on Manager George Scales, "Bill Holland" pitcher w/photo, "The Leading White Semi-Pro Team In The Country" w/photo of Bushwick Baseball Club, and "The Greatest First Baseman Of A Decade" w/photo of David (Showboat) Thomas. Issue has been folded and has 1.5" spine split at top. Covers are VG while interior pages remain aged but VF overall. Rare. The only other copy of this publication we have offered in our 46 years sold for $4,025.
