Pair of illustration portfolios from two artists well-known for their intricate illustrations for pulp publications; Finlay of the 1920s-1930s, Coye of the 1940s-1960s. Noted work includes publication in "Amazing Stories" and horror/fantasy pulp "Weird Tales." First is 9x12" publication "Virgil Finlay...A Portfolio Of Illustrations" by Nova Press ©1953 Virgil Finlay. Inside front cover is marked "Limited Edition - Printed For Subscribers Only." Single-sided pages showcase Finlay's intricate art w/several fantastic/supernatural/mythic illustrations. Attention to detail is astounding. Covers have moderate aging along bottom margins and spine w/scattered dust soiling. Fine w/clean, NM pages. Next is 11.25x17.5" portfolio folder entitled "Gothics" and includes 14 prints featuring Coye's art and a title page. First edition published June, 1967 by New Albion Bookshop. Prints feature macabre and surreal illustrations. Folder has scattered age staining and handling wear w/spine wear. VG. Prints are Exc./NM.
