Item Description
Lot of nine items from early in the career of Mark Rogers, the creator of Samurai Cat (aka Miaowara Tomokato), the main character in a series of anachronistically satirical books, each w/accompanying pictures by Rogers. Each story is a bizarre parody of some historical or pop culture event, but the event is always treated as an entirely serious one. First is 4.25x5.5" postcard from The Burning Bush Press announcing the upcoming publication of "The Bridge Of Catzad-Dûm" w/a note in ink to our consignor. NM. Next is 70-page 5.25x8.5" "The Bridge Of Catzad-Dûm" booklet published by Burning Bush Press in 1980. This is the first appearance of Samurai Cat and has been signed by Rogers as well as hand-numbered 14 of only 30 printed. Booklet has some aging and is VF. Next is 5.5x8.5" booklet w/81 pages published by Burning Bush Press in 1979. This was a werewolf horror story that was made into a movie in 1991. Margins have lt. aging. VF. Next is 5-3/8x8-3/8" program for "Waiting For Gomot" (an obvious play on "Waiting For Godot") play put on May 16, 1976 by Rogers and members of the sci-fi/fantasy group he belonged to at the University of Delaware. Signed on last page "Officer Joe Beckett" (Rogers' character) in crayon and Rogers himself in ink. Program is numbered 19 of 170. Very scarce. Next is "Samurai Cat" comic book #2, published by Epic Comics in 1991. Pinch creases to spine. VG/Fine.
