Item Description
22x29.25" glossy paper poster for Sept. 24, 1992 concert that took place at the Oakland Stadium in Oakland, CA. This concert was part of the famed co-headlining concert tour by American rock bands Guns N' Roses and Metallica during 1992. The tour's opening acts were Faith No More, Motörhead and Body Count. Axl Rose had wanted Seattle rock band Nirvana to be the opening act, but vocalist Kurt Cobain refused. It was during this concert series that the most infamous event during the tour took place. During the Aug. 8, 1992 concert at Montreal's Olympic Stadium, Metallica frontman James Hetfield suffered second and third degree burns to his left arm after mistakenly standing on a pyrotechnics blast. Metallica was forced to cancel the second hour of the show, but promised to return to the city for another show. After a long delay, during which the audience became increasingly restless, Guns N' Roses took the stage. Technical difficulties occurred and the notoriously volatile Axl Rose claimed his throat hurt, causing the band to leave the stage early. This led to a riot by audience members. The concert advertised on this poster took place just over two weeks later. Poster features great imagery of a snake emerging from a man's mouth w/a rose in its mouth. Man's nose ring has an upside-down cross. Scattered handling wear, mostly confined to extreme margins. VF/Exc.
