Item Description
2-5/8x4.5" card w/portrait of Lydia Thompson (1838-1908). Thompson was a noted stage actress and burlesque performer in the days before striptease burlesque, when it featured mostly bawdy musical and theatrical parodies of high society. Thompson is noted for introducing the art of burlesque to America in 1868. c. late 1800s card has "New Home Sewing Machine Co." imprint at bottom. Card is lightly aged and has some scattered dust soiling as well as a few tiny ares of surface paper wear on her portrait. Despite this, the image remains strong and card is Fine overall.
