Item Description
1.75" wide by 2.5" tall fully three-dimensional cast-iron figural head of Admiral Dewey w/lower portion below uniform collar as a separate piece capable of sliding up and down. A cap is inserted in this area and when thrown down, the piece closes and explodes the cap. The top of Dewey's head was produced w/a loop so that it can be attached to a cord for throwing purposes. Obvious luster wear to the exterior finish. Fine. 2.5x3.75x1" thick glass paperweight shows photo image of Dewey flanked by American flags and eagle w/text below reading "Admiral Geo Dewey - US Navy - Hero Of Manilla" in scroll. A few minute chips/flakes at right side of glass top, but does not detract from overall appearance, which remains Exc. Both c. 1898.
