Item Description
8 1/2 x 17 x 5" deep box contains #75 Space Port.  Box shows moderate overall aging with heavier wear/ water stains on top flaps, VG.  Set c. mid 1950s. Appears complete.  Tin litho contents include nine fence sections and entrance way marked "Superior Space Port", space cannon w/shells, space drome floor, building, deck, with two tower sections and radar screen insert.  All are nicely illustrated with futuristic lithography.  Controllers are seen in tower section and space ships/ aliens including images of some of the plastic figures included in this set are shown on the revolving radar screen.  Mechanical features operated by cranks with wooden knobs include loudly clicking "Space Raid" alarm and crank to turn radar screen inside tower.  Floor shows heavy wear and has amateur paint touch ups over areas that had oxidation.  Rest of tin pieces show some light scratches/ paint flaking in few areas, overall VG/VF.  Hard plastic pieces include space cars and manual rocket launcher w/ rockets, 10 army men with removable helmets and eight aliens, and two saucers which were to be launched from mechanism at top of tower.  Hard plastic pieces all Exc./NM.  Comes with photocopy of instructions.  Neat set produced during the 1950s space craze era.
