Item Description
Companion photo to the previous item #1168 and with same photographers ink stamp on reverse and also c. 1940. Pearson is also on the Eagles team photo item #1167. As with the Israel photo, this photo features a great action shot of Pearson leaping in the air and about to throw a baseball. Empty stadium is in the background. Reverse has some hand written information. Trimmed slightly to 7.25x9.75" from original size of 8x10". Moderate handling wear with some long but light creases mostly only visible in reflected light. Lower right corner tip reattached with archival tape on reverse. Front remains totally bright and glossy with crisp image. VG. "Lennie" played for the Eagles from 1937 to 1948. He was a high school teammate of Monte Irvin who became a teammate of his on the Eagles as well. In 1946 he helped lead his team to victory in the Negro World Series. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
