Item Description
Two items. 8.5x11" typewritten letter signed in ink "Roy" dates September 7, 1937. Letter is on "Walt Disney Productions Ltd Mickey Mouse Sound Cartoons" letterhead addressed to recipient regarding "Showing Of Our Product At The Radio City Music Hall." Roy mentions that the studio has been unable to find a satisfactory word to replace words like "Cartoons" and "Short Subjects". Main sentence reads "We Hate To Use Even The Word Cartoon So We Are Just Calling It A Walt Disney Feature Picture Thinking That The Public Will Recognize The Name Of Walt Disney". He ends asking the recipient to try to arrange for nice weather in the middle of September as he is coming back for a month. Two lt. horizontal folds as mailed,. top margin has file punch holes. Main portion of letter has Exc. appearance. Comes with 7-5/8x9-5/8" glossy vintage publicity photo showing Roy holding Mickey Mouse doll standing next to man who is holding Minnie Mouse doll. Reverse side has ink stamp photo credit "J.C. Milligan" "Los Angeles,California." Center right side margin edge has tiny tear. Image area has a few lt. handling creases just visible in reflected light. VF. Historic letter would be great to frame with vintage photo. A most interesting item for any serious Disney Snow White collector. Comes with Hake's COA and JSA LOA.
