Item Description
3.25x5.25" glossy photo shows Chacon standing with bat at home plate. Bottom of photo has inked text in red "Manela". Reverse side has pencil text "Cubans Stars Chacon 1926". Photo has a few minor creases just visible in reflected light, emulsion is a bit yellowed with age. Overall Fine. Chacon played 25 seasons in Cuba between 1908 and 1932. He ranks fourth in Cuban League history in stolen bases and led the league with a batting average of .344 in 1920-21. He managed Cienfuegos in 1929-30 when Negro League star Cool Papa Bell led the team to the Cuban League pennant. He was inducted into the Cuban Baseball HOF in 1949. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
