Item Description
The earliest Mickey Mouse Clubs were based in movie theaters and members elected a slate of officers ranging from "Chief" down to buttons designating "Chorus" members. This large 2.25" went to the "Sergt.-At-Arms" presumably in charge of keeping his companions orderly. Text below Mickey has earliest style imprint "Copy. 1928-1930 By W.E. Disney." For some reason, about 40% of the celluloid covering on this button has taken on a pale yellowish color compared to the surrounding cream bkg. The yellow tone covers most of Mickey's image and additional areas to the right and bottom. With the exception of this toning, the celluloid surface is exceptionally clean with just a couple of very light hairline scratches catching reflected light. Under normal viewing piece displays totally clean and with exceptionally high gloss. Small air dot over letter "m" of "Arms" shows very little. No backpaper but these did not have one and back has just normal light surface oxidation. A rare limited and early club button. We sold this exact example in Auction #179 for $1,100.
