5x7" photo c.mid-1920s shows Valentin Dreke with foot on bag wearing Scorpions pinstripe uniform with player next to him holding glove and ball after just trying to get Dreke out at base. Emulsion is a bit yellowed with age, photo has a few lt. hairline handling creases and is missing extremely tiny piece at lower right corner tip. Still glossy, clean and Fine overall. Dreke, who from 1918-28, was a star with the Cuban Stars and Almendares Scorpions  until he died tragically in 1929 at just 31 of tuberculosis. Dreke was elected to the Cuban Baseball Hall of Fame in 1945. He’s 10th all time in career batting average (.305). The Almendares Scorpions won the championship with Dreke in both 1924-1925 & 1925-1926. From the Richard Merkin Collection and Comes with Hake’s COA.
