Item Description
3.25x5.5" postmarked May 12, 1948 Pittsburgh Pa with autograph in green fountain pen ink "To Eddy From Honus Wagner Pirates 48." Top one third of autograph area has a few cancellation lines just barely affecting top of letter "W" in signature. Card has trace of lt. dust soil. Fine. Honus Wagner (1874-1955) was a shortstop who played in the National League from 1897 to 1917, almost entirely for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He also managed them in 1917 and was Pirates coach from 1933 to 1951. He won eight batting titles, and lead the league in slugging six times and in stolen bases five times with a batting average of .327 with 3,415 hits and 1,732 runs batted in. Would be nice to frame and display with a photo. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA and JSA LOA.
